Candy had one date with Barry Ilse. They were supposed to go to a movie, but the line was too long. So they went to a Laundromat to have a coke. Later

Barry took her home to watch TV. Barry fell asleep and Candy had to ask Barry's parents to take her

home.

I had to laugh, reading about Candy Vanderlip's "date" with Barry Isle.

that was so much like him. (They were supposed to go to a movie, but the line was too long, so they had a coke at a laundromat and went back to his

house where he fell asleep in front of the TV.)

 He was probably tired from staying up all night trying to listen to his beloved Hawks games on the radio.

Barry was a bruising football player, but a lot of people don't know how coordinated he could be. I went water-skiing one time with him and he got in the

boat carrying a plywood disk and a wooden chair.

First he skied on the disk (no footstraps), then put the chair on the disk and stood on the chair.

Here's a story very few people know. Barry and I ran together for class office when we were seniors. A lot of people were surprised that we ran as a ticket,

because we seemed to have nothing in common, but in fact he was one of the

first people I knew in Vestal. I lived just up the street from him, and one night when we were goofing around in our junior year, we made a deal that if either

of us ran for class office, the other would support him. early lessons in politics.

Barry Isle was still living in Vestal according to the 1995 Alumni Directory.

Barry Ilse at one time was living on Old Vestal Road, Vestal, and I think was teaching in the Vestal Schools, but I haven't heard anything about him lately.

According to the 2000 Vestal Alumni Directory, Barry is a business teacher at Vestal High School! He is married with one child.
