There's someone you should look up there in Aurora, another transplanted Vestalite:  Dennis Shary; he and his wife live there.

Dennis would have graduated with us in '65, but in '64 he and his family moved to Whitney Point, where he then graduated in 1965.

 Dennis spent 30 years in the Air Force before retiring there in Aurora ... look him up, and tell him I said "Hi"!  He's a really great guy.

Give him a call, he'll probably really wonder how you got his #!  Most likely its unlisted.

I believe he's semi-retired now, he's also quite a talker, and he knew many of the '65 grads (grew up in Apalachin), so he should have a few stories to tell

you.

We got together today. Dennis, wife Maureen, me, and wife Mina, at a local restaurant. We sat for 3 hours talking old times. The girls were interested too,

believe it or not… hearing their husbands talk old times give them better ideas who we are.

Maureen was especially interested in who Dennis' old flames and imagined flames were!

It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Dennis doesn't have his yearbook so he looked at mine and pointed out the faces he recognized with some

reminiscences on many of them. Those will appear as we load all the class onto the web.

Dennis and I have talked a couple times on the phone. He lives in Aurora Colorado as I do and works as the service manager for a John Elway automotive

dealership. His wife, Maureen, their 2 sons, and he have been around the world with the Air Force..

He retired as a major in the Air Force. We'll meet for the first time tomorrow at Garcia's Restaurant and I hope to get a picture then. Will bring the yearbook

so he can gossip about some of the guys/gals he remembers!

Dennis is not in the Senior Yearbook. When his family took over ownership of the Oakland (later Oakland-Shary) Hotel in Whitney Point in 1964, Dennis

had to move. But we consider him an honorary Vestal65'er.

Dennis remembers the hangouts of the Vestal kids, like Poncho's Pitt. Also Philip Van Vliet, Dick McCoy, Paul Waters. He is still friends with Dick and

Paul, who have visited in Aurora in past years.

The one time Dennis skipped school: Blaine Rheinvalt and he, in a lull between tests, decided to skip study hall, and hitchhike into town. Who should pull

up but Mr. Buran! Short lived escape from school
