I just really like helping you get more classmates on your database.  I am going to e-mail Bonnie Douglas Moyer again and try to shake some names or

e-mails loose.

I have such TERRIFIC MEMORIES and thank you for shaking the cob webs loose and stirring these wonderful memories.

I do remember you, Rich, but I do not remember if we had any classes together.

I have to admit I don't recognize you.  Maybe it's the moustache.  Maybe it's because I don't really remember what you looked like in 1965.  Maybe it's

because my eyes are about to close from lack of sleep.

  Commentator:  Loupret         ,  Gaskill           ,  Marjorie  10/24/1999

By the way, I never thought of you as a geek, just a brain.  You seemed to hang out with the smart kids.

  Commentator:  Mason           ,  Wing             ,  Donna  7/6/2000

She(Donna Wing Mason) and I talked for about an hour last night. And guess what? She called me!!! It was neat... even tho I didn't know her at Vestal...

just like when I called you (Ann Kuehl Scott). We talked like we had been long lost buddies.

A real blast from the past.

Glad to here you & Dennis (Shary) hit it off ... I thought you would. Someday soon I'm coming back to visit Colorado;  we'll have a good get together.

  Commentator:  McCoy          ,  n/a               ,  Richard  6/13/2000

Got an E-Mail from Joanne Sorber, she and Brian used to live down the road from Debbie and I when I was living in Vestal, and she was "catching up".   I

left here with "the mystery" of your pic...hahaha

told her there was "something" about your pic that only a few people know ... and it was a mystery.  She'll be going nuts!

Dick is referring to the picture of John Elway, former Denver Bronco Quaterback, who looks very much like me… don't you think??-Rich--Actually for a

while John Elway did occupy the spot of that more gracious gentleman now there.

  Commentator:  McCoy          ,  n/a               ,  Richard  6/6/2000

QUICK NOTE: Your pic on the Vestal '65 website looks a lot like John Elway, recently retired from the Broncos.  Its amazing what plastic surgeons can do

nowdays, eh?

  Commentator:  McCoy          ,  n/a               ,  Richard  5/24/2000

Yes, Dick ... I remember you (after "consulting" my yearbook  LOL)

Message to Cynthia Racette: I loved your reminiscences of picking your son up in front of the school. Wow... I think a lot of our class will also wax

nostalgic on that. For me, it was catching the bus to take me back home on Old Vestal Road.

Walking up to the house just north of the cemetery, rounding the corner and opening the back door. My aunt (I lived with my great aunt) would be there

fixing dinner and I would go upstairs, put my books in the study and come down to chat.

I hadn't had that memory in many, many years... but it came back to me when I read your own deja vu. It was a very good memory.

In a message to Dick McCoy: Yes, Candy(Vanderlip), Ann(Knapp) and I were class speakers... how I got selected to be put between those two elite

Vestalites I'll never know... well, actually I do. Mrs. Cavanaugh liked me.

I think she wanted to ensure the underdog was represented... not just the ruling social party, so I was thrown in... but that's just my guess.

For sure I could give the speech over again. I actually still have my note cards. I closed the speech with a quote from Soren Kierkegaard!

Glad you didn't have your coon gun as you sat baking in the sun listening to me drone on. I might not have made it through commencement!!!

My mom died when I was is 1st grade. Dad remarried, but the stress of stepmomship to two little angels like my sister and me & then 2 more who came

along was too much and they divorced in 7 years.

Always regreted losing two moms. But my stepmom and I are close now. So dad carted us from one school to another… finally after my 4th high school I

asked if I could go live with my Aunt in NY. The wish was granted.

Dad put me on a Greyhound in El Paso with a one way ticket to Binghamton at age 16 and warned me to be careful or I'd wind up bopped on the head and

left in a bus toilet stall in Joplin or some other God forsaken town.

Well, I've always remembered that about Joplin! I did keep my wits about me and avoided the Natural Born Killers of that era that dad warned me about. I

never returned home.

After Vestal I joined the army, enjoyed 2.5 years in Deutschland working as an Army optician. I returned to El Paso in the summer of 1968 to go to school.

Met a nice senorita from across the border and we married in 1972.

We had 5 great years to get to know each other before Andy and Cindie came along and I had to get serious about working for a living.

From El Paso we moved back east to Virginia for a couple years and then to Colorado in 1979 where we've been ever since.

  Commentator:  McLean         ,  n/a               ,  Rich  11/11/1999

I enlisted in the army a few weeks out of HS... and luckily avoided Vietnam (went to Germany). Graduated from college (University of Texas-El Paso) in 1972

and also married that year (Mina, a citizen of Mexico at that time, now an American).

We moved from El Paso to Washington DC and then to the Denver area in 1979 where we've been ever since.

Worked as a computer systems analyst, COBOL programmer on mainframe systems, IDMS Database Administrator ( DBA), Project Officer for new DOD

business systems, and now Oracle DBA on client/server applications.

We have 2 kids and they're still living with us... although they keep threatening to leave.

I do recall though, that we had a debate class together and we debated on the subject of Off Track Betting. I think we won, and OTB came to pass.

You are doing a great job building the data base.  It is really interesting finding out what we all are doing now.  It makes my husband jealous.

  Commentator:  Sorber          ,  Spohn           ,  Joanne  6/16/2000

Also, before I close, I want you to know how much this "project" of yours(the database) has meant to me & many others. It IS nice to remember, and

nicerstill to renew old friendships and acquaintances.

Thank you for opening up doors that would have otherwise remained closed, and for adding a new dimension to our  aging processes!! And I thank Mina

as much as I thank you......while you are on the computer, someone else is being very patient..

....it must be difficult for her, since she doesn't even know these people you are looking up. Please give her a big hug for me, and do something special for

her this weekend. OK,Boss? OK!

  Commentator:  Sorber          ,  Spohn           ,  Joanne  6/8/2000

Rich, I have no idea WHO that guy is on the web page.......but he doesn't  look warm & comfortable to be with.....and YOU DO!!! I would never go mesa

scouting with a guy who looked like that!!!! And if I did, Brian would kill us both!!!Just joking!

Is he a race car driver? I just don't know...I really don't look at other men..(.well, maybe Rich Butler who used to play rt. field for the Bulls, but he went on to

Majors thisyear...Tampa)......just my Boopah.Tell me who it is!!!!

Rich McLean: Joanne is referring to a picture of John Elway that I had in place of mine till a few days ago. Next year the Sorber and the McLeans are

thinking about a SW tour of adventure… riding into town and causing trouble as is in our mutual natures.

Commentator:  Steele           ,  Bender          ,  Jean Elizabeth  7/10/2000

Jean remembers Rich as very smart. Rich knows he wasn't that smart… just so shy, there was nothing else to do but study!!!

Commentator:  Steele           ,  Bender          ,  Jean Elizabeth  6/30/2000

I also remember you, Rich but can't remember from what class.

  Commentator:  Urda             ,  Reistetter       ,  Evelyn  3/2/2001

Evelyn wrote in Rich's yearbook: "It's been quite a pleasure knowing you, esp during the play and English. After all, who else would have done the

make-up so well! Good fortune in the future. Evelyn"
