Aug 15, 2002:

I am teaching French at Vestal High School. As my students say, "You

never left!?" I did spend a year abroad living in France while in

college. Otherwise, I've been living in the area. I am married to

Frank Miller, who is employed by IBM (one of the few IBMers left in

Endicott, if you've been keeping up with the news of IBM Endicott being

sold). We have 2 children: Curt, who is a computer programmer for

Humboldt Bank in Eureka, California; and Christie, who just graduated

from Penn State and will soon begin studies in medicine at SUNY

Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn.

One of the highlights of my job has been the creation of an exchange

between VHS students and a high school in Caen, France.

Janice is in the Vestal Alumni Directory 2000 as a teacher at Vestal HS. She lives in Endwell with hubby Frank and has 2 children.

in a note to Rich McLean: ...I find the work involved in teaching so time-consuming, that many other things get put on the back burner. And during the

past few summers, I've been doing a lot of traveling.

...I had knee surgery at the beginning of the summer; so it's slowed me down and forced me to do activities I can do while seated - such as

cleaning out drawers, going through old photos, etc

I just checked out the website you created.  It's absolutely fantastic!  Thank you so much for doing this.  What a great idea!

I wrote to Craig Ingraham last night, to see if he could join us (Brian&me&Frank & Janice(Carter) Miller, Dick McCoy, and a few others) at Brothers 2 (in

Endicott) during the week of the 4th.

Brian's family had a couple of small cottages out at Lake Arrowhead in Brackney, and we have lots of great memories from out that way.

We always spent the 4th of July at the lake, usually with Frank & Janice Miller and their children....and it seems that there was at least one catastrophe

each 4th.

One year, Frank's son hooked him in the lower lip with a BAITED hook!! Fortunately, the barb didn't enter the skin, so Brian was able to pull the hook( and

worm) out of Frank's mouth.

"And, yes, Brian did introduce Janice Miller to his best friend, Frank Miller, from Endwell. Brian & Frank grew up together, and remain close friends. While

Janice was at St. Lawrence University, Frank would often join Brian & I on our dates...…

and it was always a pleasure to have him there. They are our oldest friends.....two very special people...more like family than friends.

I  signed up on onelist this evening...with my son's help. He asked me, " Why do you keep refering to these ladies(alumni) as "girls"? " "Don't you think

they're women by now?

I guess I knew them "back then" as girls...and since I don't know them now, they will remain girls forever. Funny though, I've known Janice for almost 40

years, and I still call her a girl...our minds are funny, aren't they?

Janice Carter married Frank Miller(not in our class... but Brian's best friend). Janice keeps in touch with Norma Wurth (lives in Nashua NH) and Jeff Prater

(a music professor at U of Iowa)
