Remembers Barb as tall, dark hair, pretty, very nice person

Barb in a message to Rich McLean: I'm recalling another Alitalia flight a few years ago, flying economy.  It was my birthday which one of the stewards

learned and he started bringing me champagne from first class.

Then he started bringing himself champagne, and one of the other stewards developed an interest in my seatmate (a gospel singer from Newark named

"Joy".  never heard of her, but my idea of gospel is a Gregorian chant).

Soon we were all  huddled in the galley drinking champagne and there was considerable giggling going on.  Not surprisingly, a large American contingent

of tourists in the middle section started complaining about poor service.

The steward who started it all said to one American lady, "If you want that kind of service, fly Lufthansa!"  So, do I complain about culture

clashes on Alitalia?  No, I just get thoughtful.

Msg to Rich McLean: Egaad, two nights in a row at your 65 website:  is this a new opiate?  This, from a thoroughly lo-tech type living on a mountaintop,

often using candles instead of electricity (you would, too, if you had to pay Niagara Mohawk)

and who yesterday took a legal fee in potatoes from a local potato farmer for a divorce agreement (well, gourmet potatoes:  this farmer is from NY and has

an MA in urban planning.  Naturally, a NYC urban planner ends up in the

most sparcely populated county in NYS  on a potato farm).

What a jolt, in a way; I was       about to email one of the people I know in Italy about our mutual impressions of the 1997's we tasted last week; and in the

same moment to read about all of us thrown

together for a few years, and how formative those years are, and what we are all doing now...what a study in contrasts.  Have you figured it all out yet?

The web site is excellent! Bravo!  Would love to have tea with Joanne Spohn and Janice Carter, among my favorite people.

Does she have a boyfriend?  I always liked her.  She 's tall, good-looking, has a nice figure and is very smart. (Talking with Rich McLean)

Talked with Barb for a couple hours tonight. Topics ranged from wine tasting to Japanese culture to relationships and life's experiences teaching lessons.

Barb still has that quick, intuitive, intellectual quality that I have always loved!

Barb wrote in my yearbook: "Dick best of luck in your Gov't Test (I don't really think you need it). Stick to your conservative beliefs! Barb"

Barb and I always had a great intellectual rapport. She is one of my best friends out of Vestal.

On Joanne's fantasy Ladies Tea with Barb Friend, Janice Miller (Carter) & Carolyn Fenton (Coles) that was Girls Only:

Told her that this was not the 60's anymore and we are all equal now… so I would crash the party with my beer and chips and we would all watch the game

 together!

Remember Barb as a neat lady, cute and cerebral. We kept in contact until 1970 and have always been friends tho out of touch. When I called her in

October 1999, it was like old times. She even remembered who my girlfriend was in 1970!

When I called her, we wondered out loud  what our hang out places were. She and I didn't "hang out" much tho…being more of a studious bent. UE kids

went to ?? Mitchels? Across the bridge into Endicott.

Barb needs to call or write Janice Miller (Carter)

I'm glad Barb hasn't changed....I'd never change one thing about her....she was a friend to everyone. (Comment on the telephone conversation Rich Mclean

and Barb had on Oct 23, 99)

I'd love to see her sometime.......Janice (Miller (Carter))  is great at putting things together, so tell her that I'm going to give that assignment to Jan.....we'll

have a ladies tea....at Jan's ....on the sunporch…

with French wine and those little bitty crustless finger sandwiches (cucumber & watercress& egg salad - minus the onion) that men absolutely DETEST!

Ask her if she remembers Carolyn Coles...now Carolyn Fenton

She graduated with us, and she just lost her husband last year. Jan sees her quite often...we'll ask her to tea also...and anyone else Barb can think of, ok?

Sorry Rich...this is going to be girls only.
