Rich McLean talked with Averil on 10/26/99. Averil is a family counseling social worker who lives with her husband in Brunswick ME. She has 2 children.

She was a Peace Corps volunteer to the Ivory Coast from 1973-1975.

Don't think I had any classes with Averil, but remember her as petite and cute and a real nice gal.

I ran into Averil (Clarke) Fessenden quite by accident in the Mall in Portland a few years ago.  She lives in Brunswick, ME, is married, has two (I think)

girls, was in the Peace Corps in Africa.

You know the one thing I remember about Averile? In Jr. High...she never stopped talking...she was always being "spoken to" by the teachers. They all

said, "Averile, such a big mouth for such a little girl!" I heard that every day.

She sure was a neat person.....very caring & compassionate. I can just see her in Maine...all 4 feet of Averile in those heavy furry boots, a moose hide coat,

and a big hat with earflaps.  I envy her... I'd love to live up there.
